Phuket is a famous island of tourism in southern Thailand. (Koh Phuket).
The Pearl of Andaman Sea
Phuket is the largest island in the south, but it is a smallest province.
In ancient period, Phuket was on one of the major trading routes between Thailand, India, and China. Portuguese, Frenches, Dutches and English merchants also came here for trading. Ancient European-styled architectures can be seen in Phuket town.
Phuket’s attractive island is blessed with a wide variety of magnificent coastlines, beaches, hidden coves, secluded bays, limestone cliffs, forested hillsides, and surrounding deep waters that are full of colorful marine life.
Phuket is one of the major water sport centers in Thailand. Many international activities, ie. the beach volley ball, x-games, diving compettitions are held here. More than 14 magnificent white sandy beaches with clear waters on the west coast and its nearby islands make it impressive. Many dive training facilities with internationally qualified instructors are also offered.
