This was our first trip to Thailand. I booked this hotel online based on the reviews and the price and location. The hotel is so beautiful, it is up the hill and away from all the crazy people in the center of town. I had read in one of the reviews about not having hot water and there being Gekos living in the rooms. First there is hot water, you just have to let it run for a while. Second there are Gekos, and bugs and frogs and everything else you would expect to find in the forest. Thailand is all woods. We had a couple cute Gekos in our room and on the balcony, but they were more scared of us than we were of them. The staff were so helpful, the provided everything we needed even taxi rides at 2am. They also assisted us in travel arrangements to our next desination since all the flighs were sold out. They ensured that our stay was the best possible. The room service and resturant were wonderful, they have a small selection, but it was all so great we ordered some things twice. I recomment the sweet and sour prawn (YUMMY)The cleaning crew were always accomodating and would actually clean our room when ever we asked, 4 in the afternoon was no problem when we slept in and had the do not disturb sign up. Now, back to the location. This hotel is up the hill, and when I say hill, unless you are a mountain climber, you will not be walking up it. The hotel does provide a nice free taxi service to the beach a couple times a day but we never used it. The Tuk Tuk is around 200 to 300 BAHT depending what time of day. you always haggle for a better price. Just tell them you are going to the Baan Yin Dee, if they won t settle for 250, walk to the next taxi or Tuk Tuk and they are sure to chase you down and offer for the cheaper price. Some of the reviews said that the property is old and needs updating. To me, this place was the perfect example of a Thailand bed and breakfast, if you want Hilton, with stuffy rooms and no Thailand decor, then stay there, but if you want a traditional Thailand hotel, then this is the place to stay. We stayed in the one room pool access villa, we had a beautiful view of the beach down the hill and the pool was 10 feet from our front door. It was just nice sitting on our private terrace watching the beach and mountains across the inlet. Breakfast was included in our package, but we would have gladly paid the 300 BAHT as it was amazing. The pool in front of the hotel is closed at night, but they have an extra pool at the back if you want to swim late and not disturb the other guest. We rented a motor bike for 700 BAHT a day and were about to find out way around the town just fine. We had a accident and crashed the bike, but the Bann Yin Dee mechanics right next door assisted us and put the mirror back on and did not ask for payment (we did tip them) All I can say is that looking at the other acocomodations in the town of Patong, there wasn t a single place I would have rather stayed. Should we ever return, we will be staying at the Bahn Yin Dee. Just a side note- DO NOT buy tickets for any boat ride unless you see the boat first. We got a great price down town on a trip to PHI PHI Island, but when we got to the dock, it was a small speed boat, with not enough seat, 2 people had to sit on the floor. Then everyone in the boat were soaked with ocean water by the time we reached the first snorkling place. after only 30 minutes snorkling, we went to monkey island which was ok, but the ride itself was horrible and our bags got completely soaked. By the time we actually reached Phi Phi Island we decided we were not getting back on the boat since they only provided us an hour to eat and see the island before we had to be back at the boat. We took the large ferry back to Pukett and ended up in Pukett town, which is a long ways away from Patong. Just a little helpful info. :)
